Trauma 2.0: Moving Beyond ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) is a practitioner focused webinar aimed at bridging the gap between identifying trauma’s impact on children and implementing strategies into our professional practice to better support students. This training goes beyond an introductory course. It looks at the biological changes that occur in the brain as a result of trauma. We will then explore how we, as practitioners, can adjust our MTSS processes, which include individual and small group sessions, and our assessment practices to better support our students. This course is intended for those who already have a basic understanding of trauma.

Instructor Information

Denine Kohl, MSN, RN, NCSN, is the Director of Nursing Services at SSG. Her background includes staff nursing in pediatric settings, nursing management, nursing education, and school nursing. She is a credentialed school nurse and has her national certification in school nursing and has extensive experience in developing and presenting continuing educational opportunities. She has participated in several courses and trainings focusing on trauma informed care/schools, Mental Health First Aid, and Mental Health Training Intervention for Health Providers in Schools (MH-TIPS).

Brittany Zehr, Ed.S, NCSP, is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and a Regional Clinical Manager as SSG. She has worked at both the elementary and secondary level in traditional and alternative schools and programs. The majority of her experience comes from the secondary level working with students with significant emotional issues and behavior challenges. Brittany is also the current Immediate Past President of the Delaware Association of School Psychologists and a member of SSG’s professional development team.
